5 new tiger reserves likely in India this year
Five more sites are expected to be formally declared tiger reserves by 2022-end, taking the total number to 56. The Centre has given approval of granting the status to three new sites and agreed in-principle to give its nod to two more. The three sites which got approval are MM Hills in Karnataka, Guru Ghasidas National Park in Chhattisgarh and Ramgarh Vishdhari in Rajasthan.
