2-year-old falls into borewell in Karnataka, trapped at 15-20ft

A two-year-old boy fell into a defunct borewell in Indi taluk, Vijayapura, Karnataka. Rescuers monitored the situation using a camera and lowered oxygen pipes. A parallel well was dug up to 10 feet deep. Satvik Satish Mujagond fell while playing on his grandparents' farm. Rescue efforts are ongoing, with the boy in critical condition. For first time since 2018-19, adoptions cross 4000-mark

In 2022-23, the total number of adoptions stood at 3,441, up from 3,405 in the previous financial year. Data collated by Central Adoption Resource Authority (CARA), under the ministry of women and child development, show that of the 4,009 adoptions in 2023-24, 449 were inter-country adoptions.
