Amazon Prime Video’s much awaited second season of Mirzapur finally released recently and it has been creating a buzz across the internet. The series is directed by Gurmmeet Singh & Mihir Desai, created by Puneet Krishna and bankrolled by Ritesh Sidhwani & Farhan Akhtar under the banner of Excel Entertainment.
The second season if more intense, gritty and the drama is unmatched. Speaking to Bollywood Hungama recently, Ali Fazal spoke at length about his character, the growth of the series, the fan following among others. When asked whether his character Guddu tries to emulate that of Kaleen Bhaiyya played Pankaj Tripathi, he agreed to it saying, “Yes, in many ways!”
When asked what would be the advice he’d give to his character, he said, “There is somebody who loves you. There’ll always be somebody who loves you. You are not alone.”
Speaking of the characters, many have gone onto become household names. Ali Fazal was asked what he’d say to Mirzapur 2 characters if he ever met them in real life. This is what he said:
Beena Tripathi:
“You are stronger than you think you are!”
Kaleen Bhaiyya:
“Thoda hass lijiye, thoda aur mazak kariye aur apne bete Munna ko hataeiyye! (Laugh a little, joke a little and remove your son Munna).”
Guddu Pandit:
“I don’t know what to tell Guddu. It’s the most complex character I’ve probably played. Slow down!
Munna Bhaiyya:
“Thoda lagaam rakhein (Control himself)”
The bustling by lanes of Uttar Pradesh's politically charged towns once again add the rustic flavour, full of violence and bloodshed, which keeps the audience in its grip till the end. The web series stars Pankaj Tripathi, Ali Fazal, Divyenndu Sharmaa, Ali Fazal, Shweta Tripathi, Rasika Dugal, Harshita Shekhar Gaur, Sheeba Chaddha, Rajesh Tailang, Amit Sial, Isha Talwar, Priyanshu Painyuli, Anjum Sharma, Vijay Varma in its lead roles.
