Global popstars BTS are all set to release 'BE (Essential Edition)' in just a few weeks. Starting this week, they began to release new content every day in order to give a peek into the making of the chart-topping album 'BE'. It began with Suga's notes for the track 'Telepathy', followed by RM's notes for the lead single 'Life Goes On', Jungkook's notes for 'Stay', and Jimin's notes for 'Dis-ease'.
Today, Big Hit Entertainment dropped V's notes for the acoustic pop ballad 'Blue & Grey'. Sitting in his room with his pet Yeontan, noting down the lyrics on his phone as various thoughts come to his mind, seeing the outside scenario as he croons, "Where is my angel / At the end of the day, casting its shadow / Someone come and save me, please / is only the sigh of the exhausting day / It seems like people are all happy / Can you look at me? / Cuz I am blue & grey / The meaning of my tears that are reflected on the mirror / is the color that is hidden under my smile, blue & grey."

During an interview with Weverse magazine, V had spoken about how he wrote the song. "I wrote 'Blue & Grey' when I was at my lowest point; when I was actually asking whether I could keep going with my work or not. Even the fun parts of work became a chore, and my whole life felt aimless. “Where do I go from here? I can’t even see the end of the tunnel.” Those kinds of thoughts hit me hard," he said.
Produced by Ji Soo Park, Levi, V, Hiss noise, the song has been penned by V, Ji Soo Park, Levi, Hiss noise, SUGA, RM, J-Hope, and Metaphor, it is the most gut-wrenching track on this particular album. V expressed the feelings of gloominess and burnout that he faced at the time through the heartbreaking clever lyrics. Not hiding the mixed emotions but being vulnerable on a song is a rare thing to see! 'Oh this ground feels so heavier' - is easily one of the most heart-aching lines of the track especially the part with V's falsetto. As the song progresses, it is the warmness of the guitar and penning those emotions that helped him recover in the process. The poeticism of the lyrics is worth mentioning as he relays his feelings in the most vulnerable way describing the collective reality of his thoughts.
'BE (Deluxe Edition)' dropped on November 20, 2020. It debuted at No. 1 on Billboard 2020 with their title track 'Life Goes On' earning No. 1 spot on Hot 100 on Billboard charts. They earned their third No. 1 on the Hot 100 chart (following 'Dynamite' and Jawsh 685 and Jason Derulo's 'Savage Love - Laxed – Siren Beat') and first with a Korean song. The title track became the first Korean song to ever top the chart. With record-breaking track 'Dynamite', BTS earned their first group nomination at Grammys 2021 in the Pop Duo/Group category.
'BE (Essential Edition)' drops on February 19, 2021, two days before the one year anniversary of their record-breaking full-length album 'Map Of The Soul: 7'.
