Kolkata civic polls: Slog-hour voting pushes turnout to 63.6%

Heavy last-hour polling, which saw the voter turnout increase from 52% at 3pm to 63.6% at 5pm — a few notches below the 68.5% recorded in the 2015 civic polls — dissipated early fears of a low turnout as 144 wards of the Kolkata Municipal Corporation went to the polls on Sunday.
