Filmmaker Anurag Basu and music composer Pritam have collaborated for films like Gangster, Barfi, Jagga Jasoos and now for the upcoming film Ludo. The two have produced exceptional music that beautifully blends into the story of the film, whenever they collaborate together. The tracks of Ludo have also been receiving rave reviews. In an exclusive conversation with Bollywood Hungama, Anurag Basu spoke about the bond he shares with Pritam and how it reflects on their work.
When asked about their successful collaboration, Anurag Basu was quick to say, "He (Pritam) is my better half." Talking further about the bond they share, Basu said, “Pyaar, jhagde, mohabbat, all that happens between a husband and wife happens between me and Pritam.”
“With Pritam, our process does not start or end. It keeps on going. We keep on meeting, talk about music. My writing and Pritam's music go parallely. It's not like I write the script and then approach him for music. It's a simultaneous process that we do. That's why before writing I have to listen to Pritam's rough scratch or while writing. So, it's an ongoing process. Very soon we are going to do a sitting for my next film, the script of which we have not yet started writing. That's why music blends in properly in my films. We understand each other very well like husband and /wives do,” he added.
Ludo stars Abhishek Bachchan, Sanya Malhotra, Aditya Roy Kapur, Fatima Sana Shaikh, Pankaj Tripathi, Rajkummar Rao, Pearl Maaney, and Rohit Saraf. The film will premiere on Netflix on November 12.
