After a week of breaking records with their second English single, the 21st-century pop icons BTS has dropped a new music video along with 'Butter (Hotter Remix)'. The music video is an amalgamation of fun, electric, goofy and yet very alluring.
While the official video that dropped on May 21 was all about the electric performance with razor-sharp choreography, the remix version is more laid back and adds a lot of BTS' goofy humour. Dressed in sharp black and white suits with sparkly embellishments, RM, Jin, Suga, J-Hope, Jimin, V and Jungkook get their individual spotlight in this version. There are Suga's signature dance bits, Jimin's anti-gravity moves, V's alluring yet goofy charms, J-Hope's smooth moves, Jin's hilarious bits, RM's strong persona and Jungkook's sharp moments. The music video brings out the fun flavour without losing its cool demeanour. It's all about BTS's charms and fun personality.
On May 28 at midnight, Big Hit Music announced the remix on Weverse which read, "We would like to express our appreciation to all ARMY for the incredible love and support you have shown for 'Butter', the new digital single by BTS. To provide all fans with even more diverse ways to enjoy the music of BTS, we have prepared a remix version of 'Butter'."
It further read, "'Butter (Hotter Remix)' will exude a feel that’s delightfully different from the original song’s bright and lively mood. We hope 'Butter (Hotter Remix)' and its new take on the inimitable charm of BTS will fill your entire day with sizzling energy."
On May 25, Guinness World Records confirmed that the septet's new single broke the record for the most viewers for the premiere of a video on YouTube with 3.9 million concurrent viewers for its premiere on 21 May 2021. The record was previously held by BTS themselves for their last single 'Dynamite', which had 3 million concurrent peak viewers. Furthermore, the single has broken the record for the most-viewed YouTube music video in 24 hours with 108,200,000 views, which was confirmed by Youtube on May 24. They have also broken the record for the most-viewed YouTube music video in 24 hours by a K-pop group. After three YouTube records, BTS made their way to Spotify. 'Butter' garnered "11,042,335 global streams in just one day, breaking the record for the most streamed track on Spotify in the first 24 hours."
The pop icons debuted the performance at Billboard Music Awards 2021 followed by a second performance at The Late Show With Stephen Colbert. They will maintain momentum with their appearance on the Good Morning America 2021 Summer Concert Series on May 28. BTS recently announced the online live-streaming event BTS 2021 MUSTER SOWOOZOO, held in celebration of the 8th anniversary of BTS and ARMY.
