Temple island evacuated as tiger from 120km afar visits
Devotees and priests at Umananda Temple in Guwahati had a "Life of Pi" moment Tuesday morning - they were caught with a full-grown Royal Bengal tiger that swam to the small, leafy Brahmaputra island where the landmark is located. Much like the predicament of protagonist Pi Patel in the acclaimed movie when he landed on an isolated island with tiger Richard Parker, fear consumed a ferry-load of morning devotees and priests after a few construction workers sounded the alarm when they spotted the tiger swimming towards the island around 9.30am.
