Bangladesh polls: Amid geopolitical slugfest, India watches gingerly
Bangladesh PM Sheikh Hasina is set to win her fourth term in office as the main opposition party, BNP, did not contest the elections due to a lack of a caretaker government. The outcome is seen as a foregone conclusion, backed by India and China but lacking credibility in the West. India's interest lies in maintaining peace and stability in the region, as well as controlling any fallout from the lack of acceptance for Hasina. The turnout for the elections is crucial for credibility. Russia's reaction is also being observed. Via Times of India https://ift.tt/bKizwhs
